Tolman update

So I have slacked in the updating department only because life has been crazy busy. So here is a month in review. Isaac finally got over the teething thing and now has 3 almost 4 very sharp teeth. He loves to give us kisses on the nose and then try and bite our nose off. It was all cute until he picked up the tiny chompers. He also is constantly moving and the roll seems to be his favorite form of transportation, but he has crawled a little bit and gets better at it each day. He is a crazy eater and can really pack the food away. Typically it is packed right into the mouth but some days it turns out to be a real mess. (See pictures below). Well I think that is the Ike update other than he is the coolest kid ever. Now onto the other fun and exciting things that have been going on with us. Matt and I spent October on the house hunt, and looked at a ton of homes put in a couple bids on some, but finally found one that was perfect and the bid was negotiated just right for us to buy it.  We closed on the house just before Thanksgiving and spent Thanksgiving weekend cleaning and moving. I tried to convince everyone to move us on Thanksgiving but for some reason people thought we should be eating turkey. I was nice and gave the family them Thanksgiving the day to relax knowing they would be busy the next few days. We are all moved in and realized that living in cramped spaces like we did in Seattle you really become a minimalist, needless to say we have multiple rooms with nothing in them. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time til they are filled up. Other than house hunting, moving, working crazy schedules, we also celebrated my grandma's 88th birthday, helped rake up leaves at my parents (this was mainly to keep them on my good side for when it came down to moving), and took some time to decorate a Christmas tree. Oh and in case you have no furniture to put in a room just buy a Christmas tree it seems to take up some of the space. Oh yeah I almost forgot we proudly watched Obama acceptance speech and had a great laugh when we saw the footage of Bush getting a shoe thrown at him. (Sorry the political side of me had to come out.) All of this just in time for Christmas hopefully I will be better about updating the blog on our fun Christmas within the month of December. Ok so pictures to come on all of our adventures only because I have no clue where the cord for our camera is to download all of our pictures. (the joys of moving and losing all your junk again)

Grandma + Camera = Ike going crazy

I think the final picture sums up Ike's feelings.

Teeth or Cold either way go away

Poor Ike is fighting a cold and teething all at the same time. Let me tell you this past week has been a true joy between sleepless nights, projectile vomiting, and the poor guy just hating life. I can't wait until happy healthy Ike comes back.

November 4th the day we see true change happen and the beginning to a better America. I have been waiting for this day for the past 4 years. It is time for change to make for a better America and to reconstruct our nation after the destruction we have endured for the past 8 years.  It is time to kick out the good old boys from the white house, and have someone with views that will change the future of our nation, bring our troops home, and focus on the citizens of our country. I can't wait until November 4th and better yet January 20th, 2009.

Poor Ike he is gimpy like his Grandpa

We had a new first with Isaac this morning. It was his first visit to the emergency room, and knowing how accident prone his parents are I'm sure there will be a few more in his future. I just hope not the near future. Anywho it turned out to be a quick fix, but scared us. Ike was playing with grandpa Ron and ended up throwing himself backwards right as grandpa went to pull him up for a better grip. It probably would have been no big deal except grandpa Ron is all gimpy from a recent shoulder surgery and shouldn't be lifting anything with his left arm, but Grandpa was able to grab his arm and avoid a crash to the ground. At first we thought he was just scared, but soon realized he wasn't moving his arm and he wouldn't stop crying. So off to the ER. The doc checked him out did a quick little bend and rotation to his arm and said we have to wait a little bit to see if he will start using his arm again. At this point the doc said he dislocated his elbow calling it the nursemaid elbow and it is very common in kids up to age six. After sitting around for half an hour and no luck convincing Ike to use his arm it was time for x-rays. I was kind of excited for the x-rays only because our great friend Trent was the one to take them. The doc checked out the film no break, but had to wait til the radiologist could check them out cuz Ike was still not moving his arm. Everything came back ok in regards to no breaks, and we were released. Isaac started using his arm more especially after the IBprofune kicked in. So after our exciting morning in the ER we are thankful for nothing more than a very common dislocation, and now better than to pull on small arms. We did make sure we grabbed a picture so we could remember his first visit to the ER. I tried to find a picture of Grandpa Ron with his gimpy arm but unfortunatly no luck, just our gimpy son.

Can't believe it but Matt and I have been married for 5 years one week and a few days. September 20th, 2003 we shared our vows and partied it up to celebrate our new life together. It feels like it just happened, but as they say time flies when you are having fun. It has been a roller coaster for the past 5 years but I wouldn't change anything. It will be amazing to see where the next 5 years one week and a few days take us. So in lame blogspot tradition here are a few pix to show how we have spent the last five years. (This is mainly to entertain Ashley while she is at work)

"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." ~ Thomas Campbell

Uncle Barry you will always live in our hearts, and we will carry on your joy of life. I will never forget your great tasting burnt rice a roni, giant glasses of tequila, the multiple bets I lost to you, and most of all the love you shared with all of us. We will miss you always and forever.

The fam and I just got back from a quick trip to Seattle, and I'm missing the city so much in fact I'm just plain homesick. I know I'm back in the town where I grew up and lived all my life, but Matt and I made Seattle our home. I miss so many things about Seattle mainly all of our friends but also my crazy job, our little townhouse where we got ready for Ike and brought him home from the hospital, the cooler weather, and all the great food shopping and people watching. I loved so much about the city, and the great experiences Matt and I had there. When we moved there we had no idea we would make it our home, but we sure did. People say home is where the heart is, and my heart has been left in Seattle. People keep telling me that I just need to give Boise a chance and I will feel at home again, but to tell you the truth each day that passes I miss my city more and more. I think the thing that kills me the most is that I don't get to share the exciting city with my son. While I was pregnant Matt and I would talk about all the great places we were going to take Isaac, and how great it would be to share our excitement of the city with him. Like I said we will move back and we will be able to show Isaac the magic of the Emerald City, until then here is my ode to all things missed: Osaka Grill (best freaking teriyaki anywhere), Everyday doughnut,  Pikes Market, the rack and all the great shopping, beautiful architecture, The Mariners,  the bums who pee on the side of the road, the view of the city as you come in to town, and all the green trees blue water and bright flowers.

Making up for starting out small continued

Ok so the pix were to large to be in just one post so start with the first and work your way up.

Making up for starting out small!!

So I realized the other day that my premature little guy isn't so premie anymore. How quickly he has grown and here is a few pixs to prove it. Well that and he now has to wear all of his 6 month clothing because his 3 month stuff is just a wee bit snug. If the leotard ever comes back in style he is in, til then we will just have to buy the stuff that fits.

How things have changed

Where to begin. I guess start with we have moved back to Boise. It was a difficult decision to make to move back but seems to be the right one for now. We loved everything there was about Seattle, and our lives there. We are happy to be back in Boise close to friends and family and appreciate everyone welcoming us back with open arms. It is all a little overwhelming.

On top of moving we both have started new jobs. My job is brainless and easy and I'm happy to point that one out. I decided right now having the high stress job that I never left was not what I wanted. Being back at work has been great I didn't realize how grumpy I was getting from being cooped up in the house all day. I'm just not a good stay at home type of gal. I miss my boy during the day, but for my sanity and those around me being back at work is a great thing. We are also very busy on the weekends with catching up.

We have had the chance to take Ike all around town to see and do new things. We went to a Blues Brothers concert at St. Chepelle winery with Matt's family and friends, we have had a chance to go on motorcycle rides while the grandparents watch Ike, and seem to always be eating at some sort of BBQ with friends. Oh and I don't want to forget I'm actually getting a tan this summer, and I don't mean the fake and bake one you have to buy. What a difference hot weather and your own backyard can make on your tanning experience.

Then there is Isaac. Holy Cow has he gotten big. He is growing quickly and continues to be freakishly strong. He is so close to rolling over and sitting up on his own I know you don't believe me that he would be this close so young, but trust me he is. He has the biggest smiles and coos a lot. His own cooing sometimes shocks him. He will hold a great conversation with anyone. I can't wait to hear what it is he is trying to say. I'm pretty sure it is something wise and amazing, then again he comes from a long line of smart asses so it could be some sarcastic remark. Either way I can't wait til I get to hear what it is.

Well I guess that fills in what has been happening for the most part. I will have to be better about snapping some photos, and get those posted.

Oh Deer!!

We took full advantage of the great weather yesterday and took Frankenstien and Isaac for a walk around the neighborhood. On our way back home from the dog park we ran into a deer. He was very brave and Matt took full advantage of the photo op. Our mighty hunting dog was more interested in chasing the flash from the camera then the deer. Ike was awake for the deer but slept through most of the outing. Even with him sleeping through our walk he still gave us two thumbs up, but moved his hands when we tried to prove he was giving us the thumbs up and enjoying it.

Few more photos from the trip. Ike with his great grandparents, and his food coma after meeting them.

Road Trip to Boisenburger

So it has been a while since the last post, but we went out of town and then had to recover from our trip. We took a little road trip over to good old Idaho to show off Isaac as well as celebrate Chris and Becky's wedding. Isaac was adored at the wedding by everyone, and he picked up a few more mom's. I figured it was necessary to find a couple more mom's considering he has 3 dads. So Jacki, and Jess are official mom's but we prefer to go by L.O.L.'s (A couple glasses of wine may have been involved in choosing our name). I had a blast and lets just say one glass of wine and I was done. I guess that will happen when you don't drink for about 10 months.  It was great to see everyone at the wedding and what a flashback to the great times we had through out high school, and by the end of the night there were moments we were acting like we were back in high school. That damn deaf donkey!!! Other than the great time we had at the wedding we also had a chance to hang out with a lot of family. Isaac had a chance to meet his cousin Lily and uncle Jon and Aunt Melissa. I believe Lily took advantage of his arrival and dressed him up. I think there is a picture out there with Ike wearing earrings. Ike also assisted me with babysitting his great grandma. Lets just say I'm never going to be ready to have more than one child after the weekend I had with Ike and grandma. You say it is different but you have yet to meet my grandma. It was great to get back to Idaho and see everyone. On the way back home we stopped in the Tri-Cities so Isaac could meet his Great Grandma Jane and Great Grandpa Ken, and Great Uncle Wayne. Ike loves his Great Grandma Jane, cuz he found out quickly a little whining meant a lot of extra food. I swore we were going to leave Kennewick with an obese child, but the extra food put him in a food coma, and avoided further weight gain. All in all it was a great trip, but I was ready to be back to normal life. The night we got back Isaac began sleeping through the night, well 6 hours in a row. Maybe we should take another trip and see if he sleeps a full 8 hours.

Bath time = dress up

Poor Ike has to first go through being manhandle through a bath, and then has to deal with being dressed up like random animals. We almost made it through dress up without a complete meltdown, almost! Some how Matt hasn't put up a huge fight about Isaac being dressed up in the "cutesy shit" (as he calls it).

Well the Tolmans had another fun weekend, and tried to celebrate Ike surviving his first month. It started late Friday night with a girls night out for me and a boys night out for Matt and Ike. I was able to go see my new favorite movie Sex and The City with Jen and Patti. It was a much needed night for me, and I appreciate Matt taking on the full time duties of Isaac so I could go out with the girls. Matt and Ike got their boys night as well that night. Hanging out with Jake and watching some boy movie. Of course the night had its drama. Being new parents and all we still haven't gotten down how to prepare ourselves in a timely fashion. On the way to the theatre I receive a phone call from Matt asking if we had left our door unlocked in hopes to get Ike's bottle and food that we left on the counter. (I made sure I pulled it out so we didn't forget it, and that worked well) No luck with an unlocked door, and the only key was with me on our way to the movies. The boys took an adventure to Fred Meyers to find them closed, on to Wal-Mart and they were closed as well. What happened to 24 hour Wal-Marts? Last but not least Safe-Way to the rescue. Isaac didn't starve and Jake and Matt were able to get refills on their beers. Saturday was another movie night for the family with Ike's first trip to the drive in theatre. Nothing better than kicking it in the back of the good old Subaru to watch a couple of movies. We watched the Chronicles of Narnia, and Ironman. Well at least Matt watched them, Isaac and I fell asleep. Still it was a fun night and a great way for Matt and I to see a movie together. After our adventures of being unprepared this weekend I have begun my list of what we need for our trip to Boise. I'm sure we will forget something important and realize it when Ike is having a melt down and we are in the middle of nowhere.

Isaac's first mohawk!!

We figured with all the hair the little man has we better get a start on styling it. The first of many mohawks....I promise he likes the look he just doesn't know it or show it real well.

Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day weekend was a adventurous one for Isaac and rather relaxing for his parents. It started with a visit from Ike's Uncle Cameron and Aunt Mel. Cameron is now banned from the house for bringing Ike a freaking Pooh Bear stuffed animal, but Mel is more than welcome especially if she keeps cooking great dinners for us. Saturday and Sunday were relaxed days with strolls through the neighborhood, but Monday was the day of first. We began the day taking Cameron and Mel to the best teriyaki spot in Seattle. We went to Osaka grill for lunch and luckily Isaac only ended up with one grain of rice dropped on his head. After lunch we headed to the market for some doughnuts. It was Ike's first of many trips to the market and Osaka. We then ended the afternoon with Isaac's first hike. The hike really wore him out considering he slept through the entire hike, woke up when we got home for about 15 min, and then passed back out. Based on the look on his face when he got home he was ready to go back outside or he just takes horrible pictures like his mother.
